Latest Changes in NEET PG 2019 Exam Pattern

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate (NEET-PG) 2019 exam will be conducted on January 6, 2019. For medical aspirants, it is important to understand the NEET PG exam pattern before preparing for the exam. It is also advisable for the students to understand the latest changes introduced in NEET PG exam pattern from the last year.

Candidates looking for admission to Master of Surgery (MS) or Doctor of Medicine (DM) courses will have to appear in NEET PG 2019. The online application for NEET PG 2019 will be released by the last week of October 2018 and candidates will have to fill in the online application form before the last week of November 2018 tentatively. NEET PG 2019 Exam Pattern

The NEET PG exam is held once a year in the month of January. It is a computer-based test i.e. conducted in online mode. Total 300 multiple choice type questions will be asked in the exam and the duration of the exam will be 3 hours 30 minutes. The question paper will only be in the English language. For each correct answer, four marks will be allotted and there will be a negative marking of 1 mark for the wrong answers.

Changes introduced in NEET PG 2019 Exam Pattern

NBE (National Board of Examination) introduced some changes in the exam pattern of NEET PG last year for 2018 exam. The same changes are expected to be continued in NEET PG 2019 as well. The latest changes introduced in NEET PG are-

  • NEET PG 2019 will be conducted in a single session and in online mode.
  • The negative marking was also introduced in NEET PG and 1 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

Subject-wise Weightage of Questions

The NBE prepares the question paper of NEET PG 2019. It will comprise the entire subjects studied in the MBBS and BDS curriculum. The subject wise weightage of the questions asked in NEET PG is given in below table-

NEET PG 2019 syllabus is comprised of subjects and areas according to the Graduate Medical Education Regulations prescribed by MCI. The NEET PG 2019 syllabus will comprise all three types of subjects in medical graduation including Pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical. Last year, the questions were divided into above-mentioned 15 topics and this year it is expected to be the same.
